2008: Prolific Professors

Dr. John Castellot

Professor of Medical Education Emeritus Dr. John Castellot began his teaching career at Tufts in 2008, teaching subjects including Pharmacology, Experimental Therapeutics, Anatomy, and Biomedical Engineering. He has authored over a hundred research publications, primarily related to the topic of excessive proliferation of smooth muscle cells, which cause many diseases, such as hypertension, fibroids, and asthma. Castellot has been honored by the American Heart Association for his contribution to the development of a biochemically functionalized, silk-based vascular graft, as well as by the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute for his work with sonic muscle regeneration.
