1980: Broadening Medical Education
The Tufts Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences was established in 1980. The new school gave greater opportunity to six fledgling graduate programs at Tufts University School of Medicine, and furthered then-President Jean Mayer’s vision for more university investment in the field of health. The school’s original programs included Biochemistry, Immunology, Molecular Biology and Microbiology, Anatomy, Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics, and Physiology.
