Henrietta Noble Brown was the first female graduate of Tufts College. She received a Bachelor of Arts in 1893 and spoke at the Commencement Ceremony.
Her topic was "Some Aspects of Immigration" which was misprinted as "Some Aspects of Imagination" in the program.
While most classes were still taught by the male faculty, Maud Carvill was hired to oversee Physical Training for Women. The inclusion of women's physical training was not without its challenges.
