Plaque reads: "In Memoriam. It is the custom of our African heritage to honor our brothers and sisters who have gone home. With pride and admiration, we celebrate the lives of African American Tufts Alumni who have impacted our life experiences in such a positive manner. Those that we honor here gave us the gift of their strength, wisdom and perseverance. We give the gift of immortality of spirit with this tree. This tree is a symbol of the abundance of life which we plant in memoriam to our Tufts brothers and sisters.
