Girls' Books

Tisch Library is home to a collection of girls' books donated by Professor Emerita Carol Houlihan Flynn. It is comprised largely of fiction books for girls and about girls, written by female authors¹ from the late 19th through mid-20th centuries.

This exhibit explores the books in the collection, including series such as Nancy Drew, Judy Bolton, Beverly Gray and many others; non-series fiction titles; and mid-20th century conduct books for girls. All books can be found in print in Tisch Library, and many are also available online via the HathiTrust Digital Library.
